Over the years, CUC's employees have established a special relationship with students from The Lighthouse School, which caters to the Island's physically and mentally challenged youngsters. The visits coincide with three special events during the School year, namely:
CUC's volunteers assist with the School's Annual Sports Day as the students get a chance to compete against each other with everyone coming out on top at the end of the day. Students participate in numerous events such as sprints, obstacle races and three-legged races. With the school's three houses, Snappers, Barracudas and Stingrays, vying for supremacy in the "sea of competition", all athletes finish the day as champions. As well as playing the roles of official scorekeepers and field judges, our volunteers serve as cheerleaders throughout the day.
Every Easter, we travel with our 'polystyrene eggs', glue, glitter and dye to the Lighthouse School as the student's creativity continues to impress each year as they go to work on beautifying their eggs. As glitter filters through the air and new dye colours are created, the students transform the Easter bunny's eggs into elaborate works of art for all to see. Add a portion of tasty Easter candies and treats along with a special appearance by CUC's mascot, Sparky, and you end up with a perfect Easter outing.
